Lake Levels

Lake Chatuge water levels are determined by the TVA, which maintains the lake, the dam, a power generating station and some of the recreation areas. The lake typically reaches a peak of about 1925 in the summer months. TVA begins a draw-down of the water in the reservoir in early September.   

Water release schedules are updated periodically throughout the day by the TVA. However, water release schedules often change without notice due to unanticipated changes in weather and power system requirements.
