     “The Gathering Place” derives its name from a time honored tradition of shared good times with family and friends from far and near. Here you’ll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere of casual good taste blended with family style, familiar furnishings, cozy comforters and fireside chairs; a place where shirts and shoes are strictly optional, but smiles are guaranteed.

     The house is large, open and airy, with lots of windows to let in the sunlight and show off the lake view.  And while one might think you’d have to sacrifice personal space to accommodate as many as 12 guests or more, there’s ample room for all with 6 bedrooms and 5 full baths, 2 kitchens & 2 living rooms.

     Located on the main level, you’ll find a large Master suite with its own TV and 3 guest bedrooms & baths.  The large open island kitchen on this level features  rich wood cabinetry, state of the arts appliances and everything you’ll need to cater to a hungry crowd.  And conveniently located just off the kitchen is a laundry room and the main dining area which comfortably seats 12 or more.

     The main living room on this level, is the heart of The Gathering Place and caters to conversation and interaction without the distraction of TV.  Central to this space is a large wood burning fireplace that stretches all the way to the peak of the cathedral ceiling with raised hearth and plenty of comfortable seating all around.  There’s a second living room area on the lower level which has been set up for TV viewing and more active entertainment with a quaint little wood burning stove for added warmth and ambiance.  Also on this level, you’ll find a second smaller, but fully equipped kitchen as well as 2 more guest bedrooms & baths 

     If you’re just looking for a quiet place to unwind or curl up with a good book on a lazy afternoon, you’ll appreciate the high back rockers on the screened in porch where you can enjoy a cool breeze or nap ‘til the kids come back from the lake.  Don’t be surprised to find a bevy of migrating geese have chosen to share your lakeside leisure, after all, it’s their favorite “gathering place” too!   But with 5 grassy acres, there’s plenty of room for all & even a basketball goal for a little “one on one” later on, when you’re up to it.

     Once you’ve settled in, you’ll want to explore all the little lagoons and islands on lovely Lake Chatuge and maybe try your luck at feeding the fish with a rod and reel.  There’s a double dock just outside your back door where you can tie up a couple of boats or jet skis and let the kids go swimming & fishing right off your own private dock.  Later on, you’ll enjoy cooking out on the gas grill and dining outdoors on the deck while watching the sun set over the distant mountains.
